Good Morning, it’s Thursday, 7 September 2017 and this is the morning edition of The Nightshift, the world’s overnight news feed.
Hurricane Irma is the international news. It has hit the U.S. Virgin Islands, St. Martin, St. Barth’s, and is currently hammering Puerto Rico. The projected path could take Irma right up the Florida peninsula. There are currently three active hurricanes (Katia, Irma, Jose). Not good. President Trump has apparently made a deal with Democratic leaders of the Senate and House to move along the debt limit ceiling and sort out the DACA issue. Republicans are not happy (but then…they haven’t been happy for quite some time).
Roger Federer is out of the U.S. Open. He lost last night to Juan Martin del Potro in four sets. Also, there will be an American woman as champion of the 2017 U.S. Open. All four players in the semi-finals are American Women (Keys, Williams, Stephens, Vandeweghe)
