Good Morning, it’s Thursday, 21 September 2017 and this is the Morning edition of The Nightshift, the world’s overnight news feed.
Puerto Rico has been devastated by Hurricane Maria. There is no electricity and it appears that there will not be any electricity for between three and six months.
Robert Mueller, who is investigating the Trump administration, has requested documents relating to Trump’s actions as President. Meanwhile, White House staffers continue to lawyer up–at great expense.
Mexico City is still digging out from the effects of a 7.1 Magnitude earthquake. Many, many people are lost or missing.
Jack LaMotta, the boxer whose life was immortalized in the Scorsese film “Raging Bull” has died. He was 95.
Also, Lillian Ross, a stellar, intelligent, acutely observant writer for the New Yorker magazine has died at age 99.
Today is National  Pecan Cookie Day. Yum.
Houston’s daily newspaper, the Houston Chronicle, has been deleted from our list of world newspapers, as the rush of news from Hurricane Harvey subsides. It will be years, however, before the final effects are mitigated.
