Good Morning, it’s Friday, 29 September 2017 and this is the Morning Edition of The Nightshift, the world’s overnight news feed.
The heat is being turned up on the White House for the ineffective manner in which they are handling the hurricane crisis in Puerto Rico. There are news reports of containers of relief goods stuck on the docks in Puerto Rico and there is no effective communications across the island. We’ve seen this type of administrative failure before during Hurricane Katrina.
President Trump is proposing a new and radically different tax plan. It has not received favorable response. The main beneficiaries are wealthy individuals and families who will no longer be subject to the AMT (Alternative Minimum Tax) or the Estate Tax.
HHS Secretary Tom Price is under fire for running up a $400,000 private jet bill while, allegedly, working on government business. Price has also been criticized in the past for some of his stock trading practices while a member of Congress. Perhaps it’s time to face reality: Price is not working in the public interest and needs to be fired.
The American Team is leading the International Team 3.5 to 1.5 after the first day of play in the President’s Cup. More golf on tap today, with 5 four-ball matches scheduled for Liberty National Golf Club, located just outside New York City.
Today is National Coffee Day. Would you like cream and sugar with that?
Also, we added the CNN “text news” site, which is much faster than their full multi-media site. It’s also below at the end of the links.

We thank them for sharing. The Nightshift is a production of Perception Engineering and The Media Bunker. This post is number 1378 for this site. The Nightshift is a continually evolving experiment in news communications. Currently, comments on the world’s news have been (severely) limited and a photo of one important story of the day is often included. It’s rapid iteration. Thanks for reading.
