Weekend Concert Series: Allman Brothers Band

The Hunt for New Music:
This past week, we lost another rock giant: Gregg Allman, singer, guitar player, Hammond B-3 organ virtuoso, died at age 69, bringing to a close one of the legendary careers in rock music. As one of the founders of the Allman Brothers band–his brother, the great guitarist Duane Allman was the other brother–Gregg Allman pushed the band over four generations and was one of the driving forces that turned it into an international powerhouse and the leading exponent of “Southern Rock”. So–it seemed appropriate to post an Allman Brothers concert for this weekend. This one is a 40th anniversary concert, from YouTube and is from a March 26th, 2009 concert at the Beacon Theater in New York City.  It’s a good one. Enjoy and remember.
