Round one of the PGA Championship is in the books.
It was good for Kevin Kisner and Thorbjorm Olesen, who are both four (4) under par and co-leaders at the end of Day One at the tournament, which is being staged at Quail Hollow in Charlotte, NC.
It was also good for Brooks Koepka (three under); Tony Finau (two under); Patrick Reed, Paul Casey, and Rickie Fowler (also two under); and Jason Day (one under). Jordan Spieth was one over but that’s certainly within striking range given his talent.
It was not such a good day for Phil Mickelson (+8), Sergio Garcia (+4), or Henrik Stenson (+3).
As the old saying goes in pro golf, you can’t win a tournament on the first day of play but you can lose one.
Very true.
Some of the game’s top stars are in danger of not being around for the weekend.

One championship day down, three more to go.
Will our projected winners (Spieth, McIlroy, DJ) raise their game to the high level required?
Stay tuned.
