Good Morning, it’s Friday, 20 October 2017, and this is the Morning Edition of The Nightshift.
Former Presidents George W. Bush and Barrack Obama issued scathing criticisms of the current climate of divisiveness and nationalism that permeate America’s political culture. They did not directly accuse the current administration but the inference was obvious.
General John Kelly spoke yesterday of the difficulties for Presidents in communicating with families of fallen soldiers, in a defense of President Trump’s call to the widow of a soldier who died in the recent failed Niger mission. Kelly lost a son in Afghanistan and is the current White House Chief of Staff; he remains one of the most impressive people in the current administration.
The Daily Grope: Actress Lupita Nyong O has accused Harvey Weinstein of harrasment. The actress won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2014.
The Los Angeles Dodgers wiped out the Chicago Cubs, 11-1, in their baseball playoff series. The Dodgers earned their first trip to the World Series since 1988 with the win, taking the series 4 games to 1. They await the winner of the Houston Astros-New York Yankees series; the Yankees lead the series 3 games to 2. The Yankees and the Astros play today in Houston.

We thank them for sharing. The Nightshift is a production of Perception Engineering and The Media Bunker. This post is number 1405 for this site. The Nightshift is a continually evolving experiment in news communications. Currently, comments on the world’s news have been (severely) limited and a photo of one important story of the day is often included. It’s rapid iteration. Thanks for reading. Now–catch up on the world.
