Air Apparent: How Jimmy Fallon Won Late Night

Press Clips. Late night television is a treasure trove for the networks, a minefield for the entertainers who work in that time slot and an ever-changing cultural zeitgeist for the viewers. Bob Hope Christmas Special 1967

Paying Attention: This post features another one of Bob Hope’s justifiably famous Christmas specials, this one broadcast in 1967 and filmed on one of Bob’s USO Tours during the contentious Vietnam war. Hope is joined by Racquel Welch, Elaine Dunne, Phil Crosby and Barbara McNair, among others.  Hope did over 50 USO tours in his life and during the holidays, when others were home relaxing in safety, he went into war zones to entertain the troops. It’s only appropriate to honor him this season by showing, again, for a new generation, the true spirit of the season as seen through the eyes and contributions of Bob Hope.
