Good Morning, it’s Monday, 30 October 2017 and this is the Morning edition of The Nightshift.
The 2017 World Series delivered another incredible contest last night. The Houston Astros beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 13-12 (25 total runs in a baseball game!)in a 10 inning game that has already been dubbed a classic. The best way to appreciate the game (if you didn’t stay up late and watch it, like the team at the Media Bunker), is to read the New York Times account. The Astros are something we haven’t seen in baseball in a very long time, and their joy in playing and boosting each other up is obvious and infectious. This series has matched the best two games in baseball and shown us precisely why baseball is such a very neat and complex game. This has been the most entertaining World Series in recent memory and with all the agitation going on in other pro sports, it’s great to see both teams focused on the game and their team mates. What a wonderful World Series it’s been. The next game is Tuesday night in Los Angeles. The Astros lead the series 3 games to 2.
Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller, who is investigating Russian interference/meddling/collusion, has dropped his first set of indictments. They are against former Trump Campaign Chairman Paul Manafort and Manafort’s right hand man and former Trump campaign official Rick Gates. The two were summoned to court in Washington, D.C., where the indictments were read. Both men are facing a very difficult future.
Today is National Candy Corn Day. How convenient–the day before Halloween.
