Good Morning, it’s Tuesday, 31 October 2017 and this is the Morning  edition of The Nightshift.
The indictments came down from Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation team: Paul Manafort and his associate Rick Gates, both charged with offenses ranging from failing to register as foreign lobbyists to money laundering. Summoned to court in Washington, D.C., both entered not guilty pleas.
The bigger legal event, however, was the guilty plea entered by former Trump Advisor George Papadopolous, for lying to the FBI. Papadopolous was a foreign policy advisor and his guilty plea has unnerved the Trump White House because of concerns that he has been cooperating with the FBI and Mueller’s team in the investigation. The length of time is a problem: Papadopolous was arrested in July of this year. The White House is a very tense place to be right now because everyone knows that there is more to come. The hot mess in Washington continues.
Representatives from Facebook, Twitter, and Google are to appear in Washington today to explain how the extent of Russian backed news stories and posts on their networks. Facebook has admitted that approximately 126 million Americans (one-half of the voting public) were exposed to Russian influenced communications via its site.
The Houston Astros and the Los Angeles Dodgers will play Game 6 of the 2017 World Series tonight, at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. The Astros lead the best of five series by 3 games to two.
Today is Halloween–that’s one of our very best National Days. Happy Halloween.
