Good Morning, it’s Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and this is the Morning edition of The Nightshift.
An immigrant from Uzbekistan, Sayfullo Saipov, used a rented pickup truck to plow down bicycle riders and pedestrians in New York City yesterday afternoon, killing eight people and injuring eleven. Saipov was shot and captured by New York City Police. A hand written note pledging allegiance to ISIS was found in the truck.
The Daily Grope: Netflix has shut down production of “House of Cards”, their popular political series, in the wake of allegations against star Kevin Spacey. Netflix had previously announced the series would end after season six, but moved to stop production now while it deliberates what to do next.
The Houston Astros and the Los Angeles Dodgers will play a game 7 in the World Series tonight. Last night, the Dodgers, playing at home, beat the Astros 3-1, behind strong pitching from Rich Hill. Astros starter Justin Verlander was unable to keep the Dodgers off the scoreboard. It’s been a great and very even series. Now, one more game for the championship.
