You know Bill Gates as the main driving force behind Microsoft.  As good as Microsoft was under Gates (the Ballmer era is a totally different story), his best work may  be ahead of him, in the missions, philanthropy, and projects he has envisioned and financed for the developing world. Wired magazine, one of our favorites here in the Media Bunker, has a nice little piece on four of Gates’ ideas, visualized by top Industrial Designers. Thought provoking for a variety of reasons.

Autocar magazine is one of those brilliantly edited English car magazines that assumes you’re reasonably literate and publishes accordingly. They feature a wide bandwidth of editorial coverage of all things auto, from racing to reviews of new models, and in one of their recent editions, they spent some high speed time in the new Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, the latest in a long line of front engine Ferrari V12s. Want to know what all the new Ferrari fuss is about:  here’s the story.

Bonham’s is holding a rather spectacular auction of Leica (and other) photographic gear, in Hong Kong. Photo purists of the film persuasion will find heaven in the offerings.

The Paddle Economy : A Pebble Beach Shopping List, Part III

The final sales price of the cars featured in the third part of our Pebble Beach Shopping List are below: the huge sale of the Pebble Beach week was the 275GTB/4 N.A.R.T. Spider, which went for a breathtaking $27,000,000. The seller has very graciously noted that he will donate the proceeds to charity–a gift of great generosity and kindness. Also: please note that in the original posting, some of the links were incorrect; they have been corrected for this revised list.
