Good Morning, it’s Monday, 27 November 2017 and this is the Morning Edition of The Nightshift.
Today is CyberMonday–the biggest online shopping day of the year. If you’re reading The Nightshift, you’re already at your computer. So..start shopping(as soon as you finish today’s edition).
Off the Market: Prince Harry, of the English Royal Family, is engaged to marry American actress Meghan Markle. Harry–perhaps the most popular member of the English Royal Family (maybe possibly…Kate is pretty popular too)–is very charming, very relaxed, and is always going to do things a little differently than the rest of the family. We wish them the best.
The island resort of Bali is under siege from within: a volcano, Mt. Agung, inactive for decades, is spewing volcanic ash and threatening to erupt. Evacuations have been ordered for an area around the volcano and travelers trying to leave the island paradise are unable to get a flight out, as all flights have been cancelled, stranding an estimated 60,000 people.
The Daily Grope: Massage Envy, a franchise chain of massage studios, is dealing with accusations by over 180 clients that they were the victims of inappropriate behavior by Massage Envy employees. This is a very big problem for a company that deals with intimate contact between client and employee.
In one of the more bizarre football-related events yesterday, The University of Tennessee announced that it was rescinding an offer to current Ohio State Football Assistant Head Coach Greg Schiano to be its’ new head coach. The reason: Schiano was on the staff of Joe Paterno at Penn State when Jerry Sandusky was there (Sandusky was convicted serial rapist and child molester), and everyone on that staff has been stained by Sandusky’s vile actions. Expect Tennessee athletic director John Currie to be terminated after this embarrassing incident.
Today is National Craft Jerky Day…so, uh, get in there and start crafting some jerky. It’ll make great presents (maybe).
