Jeffrey Immelt, CEO of GE is out. He will leave his position on August 1, of this year, and be replaced by John Flannery who has been in charge of GE’s health care business.
The Pittsburgh Penguins won their second Stanley Cup a row, beating the Nashville Predators 2-0. Rafa Nadal won his 10th men’s single title at Roland Garos in the 2017 French Open. And, tonight, the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers will square off in game 6 of the NBA playoffs.

Today is the last day of the classic clay court tournament with Stan Wawrink going up against Rafael Nadal in the Men’s Championship. Yesterday, the Women’s Championship pitted Jalena Ostapenko of Latvia, an unseeded player, against third-seeded Simona Harlep of Romania. Ostapenka won, rallying from a loss in the first set to take the title  4-6,6-4,6-3.

The hot mess in Washington continues as Attorney General Jeff Sessions makes plans to testify about Russian meddling in the 2016 election. President Trump has returned to the digital equivalent of the bully pulpit by tweeting about the Comey and the situation.

British politics are in an uneasy state due to the results of the recent general election, which saw the Theresa May’s power severely eroded.
There is continuing fallout and anxiety on the split between Saudi Arabia and three other Arab states and Qatar. Some commentators and reporters believe the U.S. created the dangerous split–and will now have to repair it. Qatar is a staunch U.S. ally in the region and hosts a large U.S. airbase used for operations into Afghanistan and other countries in the Middle East.
Adam West, who played Batman in the popular TV series of the same name, has died at age 88.

Good Morning,  it’s Saturday, 10 June 2017 and this is the Morning Edition of The Nightshift, the world’s overnight newsfeed.
The Comey/Trump squabble continues in Washington with no end to the “he said/he said” comments. Only one thing is certain: the investigation into Russian hacking in the U.S. elections is going to wider as well as deeper.
Britain is facing a “hung parliament” after Prime Minister Theresa May gambled and lost big on an election to consolidate her power. She won, but did not win a majority. Right now, the British press are calling the election a “big mess”.
The highflying tech stocks took a hit yesterday as the NASDAQ 100 fell 2.4% on Friday. Have tech stocks? They most likely went down.
The Cleveland Cavaliers put on a record-setting show in last night’s NBA playoff game, winning 137 to 116 and stopping the Warrior’s perfect playoff run. Next game is Sunday night, in Oakland. Warriors Coach Steve Kerr was typically straightforward about it: “they brought a level of physicality we did not match”.
The French Open concludes this weekend, with the Women’s Championship on Saturday and the Men’s on Sunday.

Former FBI Director James Comey testified before open session in Congress yesterday. There was little that was discussed in his open session testimony that had either not been heard before or leaked before. However, he did also testify in closed session and the topics of that testimony have not yet been revealed.
British PM Theresa May has failed to gain a majority in the UK’s “snap election”. Calling for the election, on the eve of Brexit negotiations was a gamble she made but lost by not winning a majority. She is now faced with a “hung parliament” Check the English papers below for the implications.
The Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Nashville Predators in game 5 of the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Penguins, playing at home, won by the score of 6-0. They need to win only one more game to take the Cup.
Golden State took over the last three minutes of their game against the Cleveland Cavaliers and won the third game of the NBA playoff series, 118-113. Golden State now has a 3-0 lead over the Cavs.

Former FBI Director James Comey is testifying today on his interactions with President Donald Trump and investigations into the Russia hacking scenario and any involvement with the Trump campaign or Trump Campaign members with that Russian initiative. Stay tuned–it’s been  called the “Super Bowl” of political hearings.
President Trump has selected Christopher Wray, who formerly worked in Washington, to be the next Director of the FBI.
Great Britain is conducting elections today, between Conservative Prime Minister Theresa May and Labour Party challenger Jeremy Corbyn. The race is surprisingly close.
